  1. Heads up notice

Lakewood and RTD are planning light rail for the west corridor. Eminent domain will be a part of this process. Shifting soil, correction of flood plain are simple reasons your property can be condemned.

A blight study has already been done which estimates 90% of the properties have blight. The urban renewal area is far reaching beyond the actual track area. This west corridor stretches from Sheridan Blvd. all the way to Golden. Don’t assume you’re unaffected.

    Meetings:

    Lakewood Reinvestment Authority
    Public hearing
    Thursday Nov 17th 6 PM
    Jefferson County Open School
    7655 W. 10th Ave.

    Lakewood Planning Commission meeting
    Public Hearing
    Wednesday December 7th, 7 PM
    Lakewood Council Chambers
    480 S. Allison Parkway

    Lakewood City Council meeting
    Public Hearing
    Monday December 12th, 7 PM

I’m not certain but I believe the council could vote on this the same night they get public input.

Before you know it, this will already be a done deal. This is important, residential owners, business owners and taxpayers will be affected. Special deals will be cut with developers, all in the name of TIFs. TIFs are tax incremental financing. It means money that should go to fire protection gets diverted. It goes beyond that. Owners who’ve bought property zoned one way will find out that means nothing now.  I’ve already talked to business owners who’ve been affected by eminent domain in Lakewood, although Lakewood insists they’ve never had to condemn a property. The business owners did NOT get a fair deal. Find out more, get involved.
